Overview

TallyPrime's "View in Browser" feature transforms how business owners, accountants, and stakeholders interact with financial data by making the entire Tally reporting engine accessible from any modern web browser — without requiring a VPN connection, remote desktop software, or even having TallyPrime installed on the viewing device. Built on Tally's secured TSS (Tally Software Services) cloud infrastructure and authenticated using your Tally Solutions ID login, this feature allows you to open any standard Tally report — from Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, Trial Balance, Cash Flow Statement, Stock Summary, Day Book, Ledger Outstandings, Bills Receivable/Payable, all the way to GST returns like GSTR-1, GSTR-2A, GSTR-3B, and GST Computation — directly in Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox on your mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. For business owners in Hisar and Haryana who spend significant time outside their office attending trade fairs, visiting clients, or managing field operations, browser-based access means you can pull up your real-time Balance Sheet from a smartphone while waiting at a restaurant, review GST liability from your iPad before a CA meeting, or send ledger confirmations to a customer directly from a browser tab — no need to call your accountant back at the office to email you an Excel export, no need to wait for a slow TeamViewer or AnyDesk remote session, and no need to carry your office laptop everywhere. The browser view preserves Tally's iconic drill-down navigation — you can tap a figure on the Balance Sheet to open the Group Summary, tap again to open the Ledger, and tap once more to open the individual voucher with full narration and GST details — just as you would inside the desktop TallyPrime application.

Key Benefits

Access Reports from Any Device, Anywhere

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Ensure TSS Subscription Active and Login to Tally (Ctrl+K)

Before you can use "View in Browser", your TallyPrime copy must have an active, non-expired Tally Software Services (TSS) subscription. Open TallyPrime on your office PC or server, press Ctrl+K (Login), and sign in using the Tally Solutions account (mobile number or email address) that is linked to your licensed TallyPrime serial number. Once logged in successfully, you will see your name and the TSS expiry date in green text under the user profile icon in the top-right corner. If TSS has expired or you see a red expiry warning, contact Sanyam Consultants Hisar for instant TSS renewal at the best market price before proceeding.

2

Open Your Company and Go to Any Report

Load your desired company from the Company Selection screen (if not already open). Navigate to any report that you wish to view or share: Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Trial Balance, Cash/Bank Book, Stock Summary, Day Book, Group Summary, Ledger Account, Bills Receivable, Bills Payable, Ageing Analysis, GST Computation, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, or any custom report under Gateway of Tally → Display More Reports. Apply any date range filters (Alt+F2) or period configurations before the next step — these filters will carry over to the browser view automatically.

3

Press Alt+V or Click "View in Browser" Button

While the report is open on screen, press the dedicated keyboard shortcut Alt+V (short for "View"). Alternatively, you can click the "View in Browser" icon button located in the top toolbar area of any report screen — it appears as a small monitor/window icon. You can also find this option under the F4 (Send) menu discussed in the next step. When you press Alt+V, TallyPrime will display a brief loading message saying "Generating View in Browser link…" and then proceed to the next step.

4

Tally Generates Secure Auto-Expiring Link and Opens Browser

TallyPrime contacts Tally's secured cloud servers over an encrypted TLS 1.3 connection, creates a time-bound, single-use authenticated URL that is tied to your TSS account, sets a default expiry window (typically 7 days unless configured otherwise), and then automatically opens your system's default web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) to load the report. The URL in the address bar will be something like https://view.tallysolutions.com/… with a long randomised token. No one else can guess this URL — it uses cryptographically secure random tokens. You can now view the report in the browser, change periods, navigate groups, drill down, or add more tabs from the browser navigation.

5

Alternatively Use F4 "Send" → "View in Browser" → Copy Link

If you want to view the report on a different device than your Tally PC (for example, on your personal phone or home laptop), use the F4 Send method instead of Alt+V. With the report open, press F4 (Send) → select "View in Browser" → choose "Copy Link" instead of "Open in Browser". TallyPrime copies the secure URL to your Windows clipboard. You can then paste this link into WhatsApp, Telegram, Email, SMS, or any messaging app and send it to yourself. Open the message on your target device and tap the link to view the report without needing any remote access to your office PC.

6

Open Link on Any Device — Login with Tally ID if Prompted

When you or an authorised viewer opens the browser link on a smartphone, tablet, or other device, Tally's view portal may prompt for a one-time Tally ID login if the device does not have an active browser session. Sign in using the same Tally Solutions credentials linked to your TSS subscription. After logging in once, the browser session remains authenticated for convenience. You can now navigate the report: tap any blue underlined figure to drill down to the next level, use the left sidebar to jump between different reports, change the date period using the period selector at the top, or switch companies if multiple companies are loaded on the source TallyPrime instance.

7

Share with CA/Client — Click "Share" Button, Set Expiry, Add Email

When viewing a report in the browser and you want to share it with your Chartered Accountant, a business partner, or a specific customer for ledger confirmation, click the "Share" button located in the top-right toolbar of the browser view. A share configuration dialog opens: set an expiry date (1 day / 7 days / 30 days / custom date — we recommend the shortest period that fits the purpose for maximum security), optionally set a viewer password (especially for sensitive reports like Balance Sheet or P&L), enter the recipient's email address, and optionally add a personal message. Click Send. The recipient receives an automated email from Tally Solutions with a secure link and login instructions. Recipients never need a Tally license — they only need the link, the password (if you set one), and a free Tally ID account which they can create in 30 seconds on first access.

Pro Tips

Pro Tips for Tally Browser Reports

  • Always set password and expiry on shared links: Never share sensitive financial reports (Balance Sheet, P&L, employee salaries, GST returns) without enabling password protection and setting a short expiry window. A shared link without a password is accessible to anyone who gets forwarded the URL by email or WhatsApp. For CA audit sharing, 7-day expiry with a strong alphanumeric password shared over phone/SMS is the recommended best practice.
  • Favourite Day Book and Ledger Outstandings for 1-tap mobile access: When you open "Day Book" or "Ledger Outstandings" in the mobile browser, use the browser's native "Add to Home Screen" or "Bookmark" feature to pin the link to your phone's home screen. Next time you want to quickly check today's vouchers or pending receivables, simply tap the home-screen icon instead of going through TallyPrime on your PC. Works great for business owners who check collections multiple times a day.
  • Browser reports do not consume Tally license seat count: A huge advantage of "View in Browser" is that people viewing reports over the browser do not count against your licensed Tally seats. If you have a TallyPrime Silver (single-user) license, normally only one person can use Tally at a time. But with View in Browser, your accountant can be working on voucher entry in TallyPrime on the office PC while simultaneously you, your CA, and 2-3 other stakeholders are all browsing reports from their phones/laptops — without any extra license cost. For Gold (multi-user) licenses, this similarly extends the effective number of concurrent report viewers without seat constraints.
  • Use Chrome on mobile for best responsive experience: Tally's browser reports are fully responsive and adapt to screen size, but Google Chrome for Android and Chrome/Safari for iOS give the most consistent rendering performance, especially for wide reports like GSTR-1 with many columns or stock summary with HSN codes. Enable Chrome's "Desktop Site" toggle from the address bar menu if you need to see the full wide-table view on a small phone screen. Pinch to zoom works reliably for reading small figures.

FAQ

Yes. The browser view is not a static snapshot or exported PDF — it is a live, connected view into your running TallyPrime instance. When your accountant enters a new sales voucher, receives a payment, or updates stock data on the source Tally PC, the browser reports automatically reflect the latest updated figures. The browser view refreshes automatically every few minutes, or you can click the manual Refresh button (circular arrow icon) in the browser report toolbar for an immediate update if you need the absolute latest numbers right after a voucher entry. Note that this real-time sync only works while the source TallyPrime application is open and connected to the internet; if TallyPrime is closed, the browser view will show the last available data until TallyPrime is reopened.

Yes. The browser view includes a full-featured Export toolbar. Click the Export button (typically a downward-arrow or file icon) at the top of any report in the browser, and you can export the current report view to PDF (best for sharing/printing), Excel XLSX (best for further analysis in MS Excel or Google Sheets), or CSV format. The exported file downloads directly to your device storage — no need to go back to the office PC. Important: if you are a recipient viewing a report via a shared link, the ability to export depends on the sharing permissions set by the person who shared the link with you. The sharer can choose to allow or disable exports on a per-link basis. If you need to export but the option is greyed out, contact the sharer to request a new link with export permissions enabled.

Browser view works only when the source TallyPrime instance (the desktop application running on your office PC or server) is open, running, and has an active internet connection. If your office PC is shut down, put to sleep, loses internet connectivity, or if someone closes the TallyPrime application, the browser view will stop working and show a connection error message. Any previously opened report pages will display a "Cannot connect to your TallyPrime instance" notice until the source PC comes back online. For businesses that need true 24x7 anytime access to browser reports — even on weekends, late at night, or if the office PC suffers a power outage — we recommend two solutions: either deploy TallyPrime on a cloud-hosted Windows VPS or dedicated cloud server (always-on, 24x7 uptime), or upgrade to TallyPrime Server with TallyPrime on cloud deployment for enterprise-grade always-on availability, automatic backups, and multi-branch sync. Contact Sanyam Consultants Hisar for a custom quote on Tally cloud hosting or TallyPrime Server licensing.
